BCUMC Children’s Ministries

Children of our Church Family and community participate in year-round opportunities to grow in their understanding of the love of God for us and our calling to share God’s Love with others.

Lil’ Sonshine Bunch Preschool

*Sunday School:

Toddlers through preteens participate in Sunday School classes that present a planned curriculum aimed at helping them to -know God and His Son, Jesus. -recognize the Bible as God’s Holy Word which provides us with the plan for salvation and guides us in our daily lives. – reach out to others who need to know God’s love for them.

*Bible School:

Every Summer, children from age 2 through Grade 5 join us for a week of faith, fun and food. Bible School is a time for Bible Study, crafts, music, snacks and recreation centered on a fun and interesting theme.  Contemporary Christian Music communicates the Biblical theme of the week and adds to the fun and learning. Every family receives a cd to enjoy throughout the year.  The rainforest, outer space, and sports are just a few of the themes children have explored in our journey to grow in the knowledge and love of Jesus.

*Wild Bunch: Kids Crazy for Jesus:

Wild Bunch is a kids’ fellowship group that meets during the school year.  Our church bus picks up kids at the local elementary school and transports them to Blacklick for snack, Bible Study, craft, music and recreation.  Parents must register children for Wild Bunch and give permission for them to ride our church bus.  We meet on the first and third Thursdays of the month from September through April.  Our attendance ranges from 40 to 60 children.  We are blessed to have the opportunity to minister to the children of our community through this ministry,

*Adventure Camp:

During the week of Bible School, our 6th through 8 thru graders enjoy their own unique summertime experience.  Adult volunteers and older teens guide the “too old for Bible School group” in their journey to understand God’s plan for their lives. Nature activities, physical challenges, field trips, and service projects provide opportunities to be and see God’s Love in action.

*Operation Christmas Child:

Children and families get to experience the  living and giving of God’s Love in a very real way through our yearly commitment to provide shoebox gifts to children of the world through the ministry of Samaritan’s Purse.  Many families involve children in choosing appropriate toys, personal hygiene items, sports equipment, clothing and school supplies to fill a shoebox. All members of our church family are invited to participate in our shoebox packing party and the Blessing of the Boxes.

*Volunteers Welcome:

None of these ministries would thrive, or even exist, without our faithful corps of volunteers.  Background checks are required for volunteers. There is no better way to learn God’s Word than to try to explain it to a squirmy 2-yr-old or a questioning pre-teen.

In Christ,
